Nell Plants a Tree

Nell Plants a Tree

Written by Anne Wynter

Illustrated by Daniel Miyares

Ages 4–7 Picture book

Nell grows a pecan tree from a seed, tending it with care. Across generations, the tree becomes a gathering place for a Black family’s memories.

Why We Love It

The care Nell gives her tree connects with the love that holds her family together. Watching both grow makes the patient work of tending something feel meaningful.
