- Activity: hands-on activities to build empathy with the books' characters, or colorable spotlights of real-life feminists.
- Discussion card: discussion questions to help your family learn from the book(s).
- Family letter: explains how/why we chose your book(s).

How we select the best books for young readers
Our team of educators & parents search high and low for the best diverse books for 7 to 9 year olds. We read through hundreds! Only the most exceptional stories make it through our 5-6 month analyzing and testing process.
Once we’ve curated the best diverse children’s books available, we create discussion questions and activities to help the book (and its important themes) come alive at home.

Our books of the month proudly and prominently feature under-represented identities in children’s literature. We love stories about characters living at the intersection of identities too (e.g. a story about a gender-nonconforming and Indigenous kiddo)!

So what can your little reader expect with Little Feminist monthly book club deliveries? Littles are delighted, parents are inspired, and gift givers are applauded. But don’t take our word for it – check out these photos of our past books and activities.
Common Questions
Our book team curates books based on certain themes/topics. We focus on efforts finding “stories less told” – like books featuring: Black, Indigenous, People of Color, LGBT+, gender-nonconforming folx, kind boys and strong girls, and people with visible and invisible disabilities.
Sending books families already have is a very rare occurrence at Little Feminist because we work so hard to feature books most folks don’t know about (and are hard to find on Amazon). That said, if a family does receive a duplicate book from us, let us know and we’ll send you a return label, and then mail you a different book to add to the bookshelf.
Once you purchase a book subscription your first box will be shipped within a week. From then on, your book box will be sent the first week of every month.We use USPS Media Mail for our book shipments. During busy times USPS, unfortunately, deprioritizes book packages, so be prepared it can take up to 9-10 working days for delivery. If you start your Little Feminist subscription towards the end of the month, this means you will receive your 2nd Little Feminist book box quicker than you may expect. If this is a problem for you, simply email hello@littlefeminist.com and we’ll see what we can do!
We make it as easy as possible to cancel your subscription! First, you can always email us at hello@littlefeminist.com and we’ll take care of you. Second, you can sign into your account yourself at littlefeminist.com/my-account and change your subscription (know that your account password was emailed to you when you signed up for Little Feminist – the email subject line was “Your account on Little Feminist”).
Great question, and the answer is that it depends on your kiddo! Our 7-9 Year Old Book Club features the best diverse graphic novels, early chapter books, and “harder” picture books. To us a “harder” picture book means a title with 300+ words (1-2 paragraphs per page), or a title that includes some more serious themes like death or abuse.
If you have a 6-7-year-old kiddo who is more engaged by shorter stories, then you’ll love our 4-7 Year Old Book Club.
Yes! We do ship to Canada at an increased shipping cost. Since our boxes ship from California, do expect longer international shipping times. We love our Canadian Book Club members!
